The first hour
What to do right now, and when to call us
Check the obvious places first: the garden, the neighbours, anywhere with food or another dog nearby, and the route of the last walk. Call the dog's name calmly and stay in one area for a few minutes before moving on, because a frightened dog is more likely to come to a familiar voice than chase after it.
While that is happening, tell the people who can spread the word fast: your local Facebook lost-and-found dog group, the local dog warden, and the police non-emergency line if the dog was last seen near a road. We are not a rescue and do not replace any of that. A drone search sits alongside it.
Call us once you have a last known location and roughly when the dog was last seen. That is the point a drone search actually helps, covering the open ground around that point faster than a search on foot, with a thermal camera for the light your torch cannot reach.

What sits behind the search
CAA registered
Operator ID and Flyer ID held, plus the A2 Certificate of Competency, which is what allows closer, faster operation near buildings, hedges and people than the basic category allows.
Radiometric thermal
A DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced carrying a 640 by 512 thermal camera. This is the aircraft that goes up first at dawn, dusk and after dark, when a warm body shows against cooling ground.
100 megapixel daylight camera
A DJI Mavic 4 Pro with a Hasselblad camera and 6K video, for wide daylight coverage of open ground at a resolution that holds up when a distant shape needs checking properly.
Insured with Coverdrone
Full commercial cover for the operation. The certificate is available on request, without anyone having to chase for it.

The value here is speed. What the camera sees, you hear about within minutes, while the aircraft is still in the air over the next field.

- How much does it cost?
- £200 fixed, covering up to 2 hours of searching. Beyond 2 hours, an hourly rate applies, agreed with you before we carry on. No callout charge hidden underneath it.
- How fast can you get in the air?
- Usually the same day, where daylight, weather and airspace allow. Ring with the last known location and roughly when the dog went missing, and you get a straight answer about timing straight away.
- Do you fly at night?
- Where the thermal camera has something to work with, yes. Cold, still conditions and low ambient temperature are what make a warm body stand out clearly. A mild night weakens that contrast, and that gets said plainly before the aircraft goes up.
- What ground do you cover best?
- Open ground: farmland, moor, woodland edges, coast paths, quarries and large gardens. Dense woodland canopy in full leaf and built up streets are especially harder, and that gets said plainly rather than glossed over.
- Is this instead of calling the police or a rescue?
- No. We are not a rescue, and the police, your local dog warden and DogLost-type lost-and-found groups still need telling. A drone search works alongside that, not instead of it.
- Can you search farmland or woodland that is not mine?
- Yes, once the landowner has agreed. That permission is usually the thing that actually slows a search down, so it is worth starting on the phone as early as possible.
- Do you promise to find the dog?
- No. Nobody can promise that, and it would be a cruel thing to say during someone's worst hour. What is on offer is a competent, insured search with a thermal camera and a pilot who knows the terrain, covering ground fast.
- What do I need to have ready?
- The last confirmed sighting with a time and a place, a recent photo, the dog's name, and whether it tends to run from people or freeze and hide. A collar, tag or microchip detail also matters, for whoever picks the dog up once it is found.
